The Department of Culture, Communications and Media at the IOE have been organizing “Sustainability Skills Swapshops”. These are open sessions led by staff or students on a voluntary basis that involve a demonstration of and/or hands-on participation in a sustainability skill.

In this swapshop, we will be making holiday-themed clay seed-bomb ornaments that participants can give as gifts! The activity is sustainable on a couple different levels: (1) from a biodiversity lens, by encouraging the person who receives the gift to plant to ornament in the spring, a patch of wildflowers will grow; and (2) we are making all our own crafting materials from natural ingredients, including the glue and the air-dry clay, which is a skill that folks can hopefully bring back home and share with family and friends.
